Hot Rod Monster 01 ala Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth

 

Endlich habe ich mal ein von Ed Roth inspiriertes Hot Rod Monster hinbekommen.
Dachte an so etwas wie 'Driving on Steroids' als Titel.
Besonders stolz bin ich, weil das Referenzmaterial für den Wagen in einem komplett anderen Winkel vorhanden war, und ich diesen mit Hilfe von perspektivischen Hilfslinien relativ schnell und freihand konsturieren konnte. Wird nochmals detailliert mit Tusche umgesetzt. Soon to appear here.

For Andrew: This is the first completed Hot Rod monster Sktech. Will do a cleaned up version with China Ink at some point and a cool Headline. Hope to do more of these when I have my personal assignement for the tattoo flashes behind me. We should have some T-Shirts printed over in the Ukraine at some point ;)

Three Thumbmail sketches made during a phone conference. not really related to the people we were talkign with, as i had the topics in my head for quite some time. And i exercised snakes like crazy lately.
Height abotu 4cm each, done with a uniball 0,5mm pen I got from the Kiev office supply ;)

I think they might make great flashes if developed further and drawn properly...LOL

Because I have been quiet, I will upload a few scans from the sketchbook I usually draw into when having a business trip (covering the times during checkin, security checks, on the subway, in the plane...). So stay tuned.

Flash Contest #2

As part of a tattoo flash contest on a forum, i created this flash and provided it for for coloring.
The Style is not necessarily unique, but it was good for the purpose.
Next time, I need to take more time preparing the actual flash design.

Skulls'N Roses

Again a super long break in the updates of this blog, but summertime is time away from the computer...no emails, no blog only hanging out with the family.
This is an assignment which i did during an extended stay at the swimming pool (with my family). The challenge was to combine a skull and some roses & a background in an appealling composition, sparked by my studies of tattoo roses (10 minutes each). I just did not like the idea to draw them in pure isolation.

It was super fun and there will definitely of these sheets.

Sketchbook Glimpse #1

Udo Sacher, my friend from USCB, gave me shit for not updating my blog.
Well I had nothing to show by my standards until recently (found this demon thing and scanned in some articles) as I am working on a small scale project.
I have a custom made sketchbook which I fill with pens and Copic markers to learn more about negative space and foreground/background separation in Japanese tattooes.

The challenge was to directly commit to a composition and the line without sketching upfront. All drawings were done while traveling on the train or plane.
They were meant to be personal tests, but this blog also needs some updates….more to come soon.

More Skulls?

No reference. Now (12 months later) I see all the flaws in the anatomy and perspective.

Well, it is a learning process, I guess.

If you never make mistakes, you can not learn from them.
